פסוקיות בינוני

פסוקית בינוני מקצרת משפט בעזרת צורת -ing או צורת V3 (past participle), במקום פסוקית מלאה עם נושא ופועל. זה נפוץ בכתיבה רשמית, אקדמית ועיתונאית.

פעולה בו-זמנית או סיבה: -ing:‎

• Feeling tired, she went to bed early. (= Because she felt tired...)
• Walking home, I met an old friend. (= While I was walking home...)

פעולה שקדמה: Having + V3:‎

• Having finished the report, he sent it to his manager. (= After he had finished...)

משמעות סבילה: V3:‎

• Built in 1920, the house needs major repairs. (= Because it was built in 1920...)
• Asked about the delay, the minister refused to comment.

כלל חשוב: אותו נושא: הנושא של הפסוקית חייב להיות הנושא של המשפט הראשי.

• ✗ Walking down the street, the rain started. (הגשם לא הלך ברחוב)
• ✓ Walking down the street, I felt the rain start.

בתוך שם עצם: אפשר לקצר גם פסוקית זיקה:

• The man sitting by the window is my uncle. (= who is sitting)
• Most of the products sold online are delivered within a week. (= that are sold)
